A top-down shooter game which uses music to generate levels.

Absolutely fantastic! HOWEVER progress is not auto-saved! Who the fuck makes a game where you can abandon everything you’ve played just by pressing a button too many times?!

  • Abandoned; the website is gone.

I’m not sure how to describe this game. It’s an oldschool oldschool point-and-click game.

I think I would have liked this back in the day, but these days I find a bunch of the mechanics and gameplay too frustrating to deal with.

Explore, survive, gather and trade while making your way to the galactic core.

Every single described goal of this game has failed. It is a bad flight-simulator, with bad crafting, bad technology, and bad survival mechanics. It is set on procedurally generated planets so vast that nothing matters, in a procedurally-generated universe so vast that nothing matters. What’s worse is that it is so godawfully crowded with hand-holding that it becomes both easy and repetitive. Being ugly and with abysmal performance, it’s not even an exploration time-waster.

Perhaps in some years they will change/fix many of its issues, but I believe it has a fundamental casualness to it that anchors its core gameplay problems. This is not a game made for gamers.

2017-05-07 update: I tried it again, and it just isn’t worth it. If its graphics were the same as before (they’re busted now) then maybe. I have another video card but I’m not going to swap things around or fiddle with installing an old version of my card’s drivers. I just don’t want to bother any more.

Shoot stuff and things.

I played the open beta. I found it fun, but not worth money. When I was given it for free a while later, I didn’t find it all that great.

  • Has graphics reminiscent of Sanctum 2 – (2013 game).
  • Overwatch 2 – While it has PvE to some degree, the full talent trees and upgrades concept will not be implemented. (source)

Open-world exploration.

It’s like an even crappier-graphics Minecraft, only with nothing to do. At first I thought it was quirky and interesting, but for some reason I got lifted in the air and after a long, long, while the game ended. I redid things, and this happened the second time too.

A tower defence game with space ships.

I didn’t play a whole lot of this, because the novelty wore off with the first one. However, it looks like this is more of the same: Highly customizable and extremely fun, but with poor replayability. Worth a bit of coin if you’re a fan of tower defence games.

I was able to utterly blow away the first two practice missions. It does look like it gets a lot harder. I think maybe this isn’t really for me right now or perhaps isn’t my thing any more. I think I would like this game a moderate amount if I spent more time with it.

Playing a few hours in, the UI is really annoying. That alone makes this game extraordinarily hard. I hate having to fight the game itself to figure all my shit out. I’m giving this a pass.

Like its predecessor, bonus points for the author throwing away all sense of storyline. Fuck all that shit, I just want gameplay. I’m not joking.

I didn’t take notes from back then. All I have are some saved fleets. Some of the game gets extremely hard, especially with technology restrictions. I fucking hate having those restrictions. This was a big downer to playing all the way through.

I never tried its expansion Parasites.

This “game” is a piece of shit. Avoid it unless you’re a big fan of Borderlands. Even then, you should probably avoid it.
