Aliens come to earth and offer their technology but have ulterior motives.

V is another show which got cut before it got into its plot. I might be biased because of my appreciation for its subtleties and the previous TV show and TV-movies.

I do like it, and I wish it continued. I don’t consider this recommended viewing for people unfamiliar with the earlier works because it doesn’t get into its complete story.

Firefly (2002) cast

A space-western with a motley down-and-out crew struggling on the edge of a semi-dystopian planet-spanning civilization.

Easily one of the best television shows I’ve ever seen. I don’t just consider this mandatory, I will dog people to watch it. I bought two copies of this series just to give one away.

Let me stress this. This is a series so good that even after cancellation there was enough popularity to produce a movie. A movie for a cancelled series. The only one I’ve ever heard of. Serenity – (2005 movie) is itself mandatory viewing for those who have enjoyed Firefly.

Mandatory viewing. I have been brought to tears more than once.

An air force test pilot’s prototype spacecraft falls into a wormhole that takes him across the universe

While I really like this series, it’s a major uncomfortable mindfuck in many places and I don’t know how strongly I could recommend it to others. I would be far more hesitant in recommending it to those not already fans of the science fiction genre at large, whose members are often far more accepting of already-difficult subjects.
