I'll add notes when I re-watch this series.
Do not watch this without respecting the Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel viewing order.

A vampire, cursed with a soul to be immortally haunted by his past, hopes for absolution by fighting the damned.

An astonishing series. The characters and story are outstanding. While built upon/within the Buffy the Vampire Slayer universe, it has a different and significantly more adult story line. I would say that this series is better than its parent, but Buffy is mandatory and still enjoyable viewing to get to this one.

Mandatory viewing.

I'll add notes when I re-watch this series.

A highschool cheerleader, learning she is imbued with the spirit of the Vampire Slayer and her school was built on a Hellmouth, is trained by an ancient order of Watchers to fight vampires and other monsters from ending the world.

An astonishing series, and I don't say that lightly. The characters and story are outstanding. While this is a fast-and-loose show, it matures. It spinoff/partner series, Angel (1999-2004) is even more adult. This show is well worth the time, even if its initial episodes put the viewer off with its childishness. It's not a series that "grows on you", it really does get better and better, building upon and maturing out of its initial impressions.

Mandatory viewing.

Iron Man is a prick, dooming the world unless The Avengers can save it.

Another comic book movie. Meh. I'm sure it made money, but it makes no contributions to anything whatsoever. Recommended for pop comic book movie fans.

  • Properly titled Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Firefly (2002) cast

A space-western with a motley down-and-out crew struggling on the edge of a semi-dystopian planet-spanning civilization.

Easily one of the best television shows I've ever seen. I don't just consider this mandatory, I will dog people to watch it. I bought two copies of this series just to give one away.

Let me stress this. This is a series so good that even after cancellation there was enough popularity to produce a movie. A movie for a cancelled series. The only one I've ever heard of. Serenity is itself mandatory viewing for those who have enjoyed Firefly.

Mandatory viewing. I have been brought to tears more than once.

  • Sabotaged by Fox.
  • Continues with Serenity, sortof.

    • Serenity uses the same characters in the same world, but is not meant to progress story arcs from the series.

A unique space-western in the Firefly - (2002 TV show) universe, meant to both stand apart its own film and to conclude the Firefly series.

I don't know that I'd recommend this for people who haven't seen the Firefly TV series, but for those who have seen and liked the series this film becomes mandatory viewing.
