It used to be great, but Google took it over, removed video responses, fucked up comments and left the service in shambles.

I decided to check out this new service. It aggregates a whole bunch of other stuff.
Based on what it listed, I checked out every website and signed myself up to check out what I may have been missing. Many things I already knew about, but some of these services were new to me.
2014-07-26 – www.profilactic.com is semi-gone. I don’t think I’ll bother with it anymore. As of this date, their parting message is:

I don’t use it for basic privacy issues. It’s only here for reference. .. but over the years I’m vindicated to learn I made the right call for all kinds of reasons.
Medium.com changed their rules:
Most notably is their new ability to ban accounts based on off-site interactions. As with other evil websites, this has been used as a targetted censorship tool.
A website for lazy developers to provide commenting functionality.
So far I’ve seen no easy way to rescue comments, so if you’re a developer and you want to migrate away, you’re screwed.
