A 92-key wireless keyboard+mouse combination.

With a lithium-ion battery and charging cable, broad compatibility and tiny-but-functional size, this is an inexpensive and handy device.

  • mouse: HID\VID_046D&PID_C01B\6&a742701&1&0000
  • keyboard: HID\VID_413C&PID_2003\6&34a825d5&0&0000
  • Although the box is labelled RT-MWK08, there is no indication of this being a “Rii”
  • Not well tested, but strongly triggers MF sensitivity in my left hand.
  • There are alternate versions of this keyboard: colours, Russian character set, and a 2x AA battery-operated one.
  • I did not require a driver installation for Windows 10.

Batteries >

The batteries on my Zaurus SL-C1000 failed to work, so I did some looking around and found a solution.

My battery could charge and would boot up my device. While it showed as fully charged it would “drain” extremely quickly.

Following these instructions I was able to completely resurrect one battery, but a second one did not work. That second battery had a bit of a bulge, so I’m guessing it went completely bad.

With great thanks to SWilliams: https://youtu.be/CCQU8eW3TGk

Windows 10 >

Problem:

  • On Windows 10
  • While booted into Windows
  • A hard drive is contained in an in-computer dock. (internal SATA)
  • That hard drive is powered on.
  • That hard drive is not seen by Windows, and does not appear as a new hard drive letter.

Notes:

  • It is seen and works in Linux.
  • This hard drive was “cloned” with dd.

Solution: The “disk signature” needs to (briefly) be made unique.

Windows 8.1 >

A while back, I experienced all manner of issues.

Interestingly, Linux didn’t give a flying fuck and never even hiccuped once. This is why I initially thought I had an issue with Windows 8.1. Go Linux go.

I rebooted into some specialized memory testing to prove I had memory issues.

I was working on building an entirely new system and had started with a case and power supply replacement. Apparently I had damage to my earlier power supply, because, after I replaced it, all my issues magically went away.

These are high-quality pens which use ceramic-tipped water-based refills.

Much of my writing is pen and paper, and the right pen is extremely important. A certain balance, texture and weight of pen, and a smooth writing experience are important to me. Put one of these pens down on a table, and spin them. They spin around the central closure for when the cap fits against the pen. That’s Japanese quality.

I’ve bought these from ThinkGeek , but most recently I’m buying them from penloversparadise.com.

I do not know if this ink is archival quality!

These are high-quality notebooks with archival quality paper.

Much of my writing is pen and paper, and it turns out that good paper also matters a lot. I’m perfectly comfortable with cheap paper in a three-ring binder, but I want something much better for travel and for long-term storage. A bookshelf of these little notebooks also look a hell of a lot better than binders.
