A straightforward and mildly interesting movie. Recommended only for people who like ruined world science fiction.

A small research vessel is knocked down by a meteor shower, triggering a panicked military response and causing hundreds of civilian casualties.

An endearing and distracting movie. Recommended, even though the dubbing is exaggerated and loud.

An old ace fighter pilot is dusted off to instruct for an impossible mission.

Slow and boring; I don’t see the popularity at all other than it’s not woke.

  • Properly titled Top Gun: Maverick

A man working for the police is tasked to hunt down murderous artificial humans.

Moody and mostly-slow, relying heavily on the setting. It’s good, and not just “good for it’s time”. It has a spectacular tone and style to it; definitely recommended.

A drug reveals an alien world.

It has undertones which could make it very disturbing, however it is half-tainted by and half-infused with comedy. With a unique universe and being extremely watchable, this is definitely memorable and enjoyable.

I’ve heard it described as Evil Dead II – (1987 movie) meets Naked Lunch – (1991 movie). I think it also has a bit of the spirit of They Live – (1988 movie). If you know and liked those films, you’ll like this one.

A must-watch.

A group of friends visits a cabin in the woods, where research on The Necronomicon was recently done and has possessed the area.

I hate hate hate horror movies, but this kindof isn’t one. This is absolutely mandatory viewing.

New technology allows a vehicle to pass through solid matter, but something else is brought through.

This is a must-watch movie, not for its story and plot as-such, but for its feel. It has ideas which really stick. I think Buckaroo Banzai might be particularly cool for young boys.

  • Properly titled The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension

A lone human is sent through a gateway to examine an exoplanet for signs of intelligent life.

Confusing, slow, and tiring.

  • 1:00 — Reading.
  • 1:30 — 20 light years is not far enough to reach anything significant.
  • 9:15 — Wouldn’t he have already been prepared to abandon ship? I would have expected him to be in a suit.
  • 11:00 — God it must be as boring for that guy as it is to watch that guy not do anything.
  • 13:15 — He should have been bundling up his parachute immediately.
  • 19:00 — Five days of water would take up more volume than that little pack.
  • 19:15 — Why would he think that place doesn’t have intelligent life? That could be somewhere on Earth, and we have intelligent life.
  • 24:30 — There’s no way he would be spilling even a bit of it if he has to use pills to drink it.
  • 28:30 — The robots wiped out the world and are now just patrolling?
  • 32:00 — Wouldn’t he be reporting absolutely everything, including the fact that he was shot at?
  • 39:15 — A stick wouldn’t do a damned thing against any kind of machinery.
  • 39:45 — What about the robo-dog?
  • 40:00 — Didn’t he have gloves on?

    • 37:30 — He still had them on.
    • 37:45 — He took them off to use his oxygen. I guess he’s stupid.
  • 40:45 — I’m still confused as to why he strayed from water.
  • 44:00 — He hurt his right arm before didn’t he? What happened to it.
  • 54:00 — Did he lose his gloves?
  • 1:10:45 — Wouldn’t the doors close automatically?
  • 1:15:15 — Yet another thing I had predicted.. some parallel universe and being the cause of the war.
  • 1:17:45 — What was I supposed to learn from the meteors in the sky?
