The hairy-footed nephew to the town’s adventurer is swept up into the aftermath of those stories when he is left his prized ring.

It’s great for its time, but there’s no way this could have worked were it any other franchise in any other context of any other era. Most things are not explained.

For people who don’t like this movie and bail early: This was made in a time when you can’t pause or leave. It’s meant to be “bad” to an uncomfortable degree before it begins to make its point(s).

The Black Cauldron - (1985 movie) image

A pig farmer gets stoned and hallucinates.

Gritty, scary, and gripping; a product of its time. Recommended both for real parenting and people who appreciate decent cinema. It’s nowhere near the calibre of something like The Secret of NIMH – (1982 movie) or the like, but think gently in that direction.
