The default Windows explorer.exe is unbearable after using SpaceFM on Linux for so long. I can’t deal with multiple windows even with all the shit that’s cooked into Windows 8.1 to supposedly help.

I need a tabbed explorer, and not some oddball replacement file manager.

First, an advertisement to Windows 10 got baked into Windows 8.1, probably via its update service. Sigh.

It appeared as a tray icon.

The resulting window, which doesn’t tell me nearly enough, has “Learn more on windows.com” at its top-right.

That leads to

Firefox removed the status bar a long while back. Users who want that functionality were directed to install Status-4-Evar.

Pale Moon is based on a Firefox code base from before changes like that. It therefore does not need that addon, and additionally comes with configuration for its status bar.

However, I see in about:config there are entries for status4evar, so maybe it’s just integrated and doesn’t show up in the list of extensions.
