A steady state-type program. Discards unwanted user changes at log off or reboot and has easy application-blocking.
I was exploring security on Windows XP and wanted a state-freezing system, so I can make dangerous changes and easily roll back. I purchased Clean Slate, played with it, was unimpressed and abandoned it. I don’t know what’s changed since those days, but this is a very complex and powerful program and I bet I could have put it to better use.

So I wanted to get City of Heroes – (2004 game) installed to try it out. I’ve been bored of World of Warcraft for the longest time, and a superhero-based game has been sounding like fun for some time now.
At this point neither Diablo 3 – (2012 game) nor Star Wars: The Old Republic were out. I just needed something to do.
But for some odd reason I could not get City of Heroes to work. It was definitely a DirectX issue, except DirectX refused to install! Hopefully someone out there can benefit from the hell I went through, and my notes would be useful..

When it comes to all the fancy software tools out there, I’m finding myself becoming more and more luddite.
I’ve learned through reading and discussion many ways on how to handle data. It’s something I’m always interested in. However, the one thing that I’ve learned – and sometimes the hard way – is that no matter how awesome your handling of your data it all falls to pieces when your tools break.
