A king, resurrected with half of a dragon’s heart, rules with an iron fist but is opposed by his former-mentor, a former dragon-slayer now allied with that last dragon who has the remaining half of the king’s heart.
A fine, action-heavy, fantasy. Has a lot of recognizable stars.
A princess, being chased by orcs and to be a sacrifice, passes through a gate into our world but the orcs follow her.
If this movie could be considered a B-movie, it is extraordinary. It’s well-written and well-acted, and unlike Orcs! – (2011 movie) there is no comedy and I have no feeling that there is need or room for any. I easily consider this a low-budget A-movie. It was good. Very good. Not surprisingly good, actually good.
I don’t know how strongly I can or should recommend this. My heart melts for Aleya, so I’m pretty sure I’m biased.
A girl kills her father, blows up her house to hide the evidence and flees the scene.
While this might have been good at the time, and particularly notable because of the nudity, it’s only vaguely entertaining like a sort of late-night TV-movie. It’s too low-brow compared to science f
iction movies, too adult compared to fantasy movies and too childish for grownups.
While definitely a B-movie, this is well-written and well-acted. It doesn’t really have comedy like most B-movies though, so it doesn’t “work” all that well. Still, I think it’s worth a watch.
Something about trolls and such, and a little boy who probably becomes a hero.
I didn’t get very far into this. It’s way too over-the-top childish for my tastes. I would recommend this be watched by a parent with their kid. It seems action-packed yet “safe”. Nobody dies, even through major fight scenes.
Properly titled Monkey King: Hero Is Back (2015)
西游记之大圣归来 or Xi you ji zhi da sheng gui lai in Chinese
You may think that “is back” would mean this is a sequel. It is not.
The dying breath of the queen of witches curses a man with immortality, who becomes a witch hunter but only one who incarcerates witches, which turns out to be a bad idea because they didn’t see Demolition Man – (1993 movie).
An adequate movie, but doesn’t bring anything interesting. The world, the plot and the characters are all boring. Perfectly fine for people who like bubblegum action fantasy.
Soldiers, separated from their opposing factions, travel with the last techno-druid to their sacred land, hoping for knowledge.
I wanted this to be good, but it’s as though it had all the most boring parts of any random anime, except this was live-action. Not recommended, even for people who might like the concept.
Demons who feed on suffering suffer a terrible plague that threatens to starve them to death.
A unique world, great makeup/appliances and plot make this particularly interesting. I’ve heard this called noir-esque, and it really does have a style that’s similar to other movies I’ve seen. Recommended!
