I’m not sure how to describe this movie. It’s .. it doesn’t have the sort of consistency that makes it stick in memory enough to try.

It both feels like it has a plot line and that it’s all over the place. Overall it neither crafts a “feeling” nor has memorable characters. It was watchable enough to get through it all without really cringing, but it’s definitely not re-watchable and I wouldn’t recommend it even as bubblegum viewing. It’s successor, Hitman – Agent 47 (2015)[doesn’t exist], is way better.

  • Trailer
  • Executive producer.. Vin Diesel? Oh.

The story of Al Capone and his network of criminals being chased by the United States Department of the Treasury.

Overall it’s an entertaining, albeit predictable, film to me. I understand it was popular at the time, but I can’t imagine it’s held up well at all. It puts me off because it’s so very clean, yet has so much violence. There is a sort of strange “Disney violence” oil-and-water that makes no sense to me.

The Last Panthers (2015-) poster

Driven by De Beers‘ manufactured value of diamonds, the story follows a robbery being investigated by police and an ugly insurance woman of some sort.

Maybe it gets better, but it’s slow and boring. Maybe I needed to see an extended-length pilot episode. This has John Hurt, but that’s not good enough for me. Maybe I should have given this more of a chance, but .. I’m not going to.

  • Has scenes spoken in the French language, with English subtitles. It takes place in France, so there are a lot.

TODO – Crime and stuff.

After seeing Black Mass – (2015 movie) I’m reminded to put this into the growing catalogue. I’ll have to come back and re-watch it to add any real notes. Though I’ve seen this, it isn’t in my collection and I don’t expect to see it again any time soon.

Being ancient and good, this movie has become the standard for a “certain type” of movie. It got there first, so it set the bar. One which arguably hasn’t been reached by other movies.

The FBI make an alliance with the mob.

I’m not a particularly big fan of this type of movie, but this one was good. I don’t think it’s worth watching a second time. I got bored most of the way through.

  • Based on Black Mass (2006?) by Dick Lehr and Gerard O’Neill

The show was cancelled after two seasons, at which time I stopped caring enough that when I learned it had been un-cancelled I continued to not care.

A psychologically-disturbed young man’s fantasies spiral out of control as he pursues a lunatic’s dream for economic anarchy.

Fast and loose. This is one of those shows which tries to cash in on this generation’s theme of general discontent. It generally fails. More-or-less entertaining.

For everyday people this is somewhat recommended. For fans of psychological stuff, and anti-corporatism, this is somewhat recommended. For people who know enough about computers but don’t like psychological stuff or anti-corporatism, I do not recommend this.

Breaking Bad (2008-2013) Walter White

A money-desperate high school teacher and miscreant former-student enter the drug trade, which begins to consume them.

Breaking Bad is one of those uncomfortable-yet-riveting shows. While awesome for what it is, I don’t generally recommend it.

I did watch it, and I’m mostly happy I did, but it doesn’t leave a nice streak-free gloss on my memory. I guess that was the point.
