Supergirl is super, and something about the last of the fleet that isn't the last, and Leia is immortal and shit characters and shit writing.

The earlier movies are mandatory for this. If you thought the earlier movies were shit, then this is the nail in the coffin. Just let the franchise die.

  • Properly titled Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Lost in space, a member of a misfit band of space-mercenaries is found by his father.

Another boring semi-superhero movie. I expect this will be mildly entertaining for people who really liked the earlier one.

In an odd way, see also Dark City - (1998 movie) and Watchmen - (2009 movie).

Iron Fist - (2017- television show) image

The son of a billionaire family survives them in a plane crash in the Himalayas, and returns after being raised by monks only to find their ancient enemies throughout his old home and business. Basically Marvel's Batman.

At first I was going to ignore this series, because the Iron Fist trailer made it look like utter trash, but the YUR A WHITE MALE "mainstream liberal media" response made me interested.

Even though the superhero genre is generally tiring, this show is well worth watching, and its response is a beautiful example of fake news manufactured by "social" "justice".

Wreck-It Ralph (2012) poster

In a world where video game characters are alive, a lonely bad guy tries to earn appreciation but ends up threatens ruin.

A fun movie, most appropriate for the nostalgia fans of various old arcade games. It goes very very old, like Pixels - (2015 movie), which puts it in a particularly odd space. I think this one ends up being childish and unique enough that its various reference aren't in the way of an actual proper movie.

Tron - Legacy (2010) poster

The misbehaving millionaire son of a lost father learns that his disappearance was in a digital world he authored but was trapped in after a coup from its inhabitants.

The uncanny valley of the main baddy / young version of the main character is terrible. What would have been amazing is if the effect were really really improved for the "true" version of the character, but kept uncanny for his copy, Clu.

However, the soundtrack, hell the audio, and the sheer scale of the movie is astonishing. I know others don't find this movie appealing, but I love it so damned much. I love it beyond the nostalgia of the original, but as an entirely separate movie.

Oh so very highly recommended.

Flight of the Navigator (1986) poster

A twelve year old kid is kidnapped by an alien research drone, who experiments on him by stuffing him full of knowledge, and although his brain ends up "leaking", he is the drone's only chance to get back home after hitting some power lines and getting shocked.

Though there aren't many kid-friendly science fiction movies out there, this is easily the best among them. Even ignoring its "present day" time, it's beginning to show its age. The fact that its "present day" is 1986 will inevitably be its biggest hurdle to accessibility to today's young. This movie is definitely worth a remake every fifteen years or less.

The Lone Ranger (2013) poster

A child with an allergy to peanuts hallucinates an indian statue as Tonto telling him a story with the Lone Ranger.

Johnny Depp has started taking terrible cornball roles, and this movie is a steaming pile of shit. His native-American character feels cringeworthingly blackface-esque. I can see how the occasional comedic bit can make a movie fun, but the entire spirit of this movie feels just a touch too serious for there to be the right comedy-adventure feeling like that in Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl - (2003 movie).

Deadpool (2006) poster

Dying of cancer, a dishonourably-discharged special forces soldier submits to experimentation to save his life, which was actually to enslave him and resulted in mutant powers with a scarring side effect, forcing him to hunt down his creator for both revenge and the cure.

An adequate movie on-par with the other adequate superhero movies. This has some significant laugh-out-loud moments, and with a lot of blood and cursing to make it an R-rated movie, it rides on the ho-hum samey-same superhero movie trend all the way to success.

Features nothing new or interesting in the expanded universe. In fact, involves nothing from any other movie whatsoever.

Recommended for those who are hipster for the "superhero genre" movie trend.
