A coming of age story of a class of students learning poetry in an unorthodox way.

While I recommend and like this, it not great.

Something about it makes it feel somehow inelegant or simple, perhaps even predictable. Perhaps it stood out in its era, and it caught me at an impressionable moment for my first viewing, but as I watch it again it doesn’t grab me much at all. I think this would be weakly-mandatory for creating a well-rounded movie-learning experience in someone young.

To solidify its power, a planet-eater tracks down the only thing which could threaten it, the “matrix of power”, a device passed down from the leaders of a race of alien robots.

This was a deeply-moving movie for me as a child, though this impression was only possible because I grew up watching the original series. Re-watching this as an adult, it didn’t have anywhere near that impact.

Though I do still like it, I don’t know that I can recommend it, not just because it looks “old”, but because it requires so much context from the series. I think for the young these days this would look like a crappy old cartoon with decent, but old, rock music.

An interpretation of the story of Esther.

Fair at best. Seems horribly ‘biased’.

The Earth unites when plans for an incredibly complex machine are discovered.

I loved this movie, though it’s very soft on the brain. It requires a lot of suspension of disbelief and might aggravate the harder science fiction fans.
