A kid goes mad and then vigilante after witnessing the murder of his mother.

This is nothing like batman, honest. This is an awkward movie that would have been better off cut-down and presented as a series pilot. A series made of this would, of course, have failed. While this movie does present a better angle for the insanity behind vigilanteism, it’s lacking overall. I don’t empathise with the character at all, which I think is the entire point of this angle of movie.

Deadpool (2006) poster

Dying of cancer, a dishonourably-discharged special forces soldier submits to experimentation to save his life, which was actually to enslave him and resulted in mutant powers with a scarring side effect, forcing him to hunt down his creator for both revenge and the cure.

An adequate movie on-par with the other adequate superhero movies. This has some significant laugh-out-loud moments, and with a lot of blood and cursing to make it an R-rated movie, it rides on the ho-hum samey-same superhero movie trend all the way to success.

Features nothing new or interesting in the expanded universe. In fact, involves nothing from any other movie whatsoever.

Recommended for those who are hipster for the “superhero genre” movie trend.

Hitman (2007) poster

I’m not sure how to describe this movie. It’s .. it doesn’t have the sort of consistency that makes it stick in memory enough to try.

It both feels like it has a plot line and that it’s all over the place. Overall it neither crafts a “feeling” nor has memorable characters. It was watchable enough to get through it all without really cringing, but it’s definitely not re-watchable and I wouldn’t recommend it even as bubblegum viewing. It’s successor, Hitman – Agent 47 (2015)[doesn’t exist], is way better.

  • Trailer
  • Executive producer.. Vin Diesel? Oh.

Hitman - Agent 47 (2015) poster

A super-soldier program falls apart when its author goes rogue, but when its heirs move to re-capture him, not only does one of his creations turn against them but so does his greatest creation, his daughter.

What was, in so many respects, an original piece in an original world, it has various inappropriate quips and so obviously draws from other sources that it wears thin for a fan of them. Definitely recommended, but I’ll leave it up to the viewer to decide on if they’d re-watch it. I reference several other sources which ought to be watched at some point, and I think their viewing would reveal just how thin this movie is. Good, but thin.

  • Properly titled Hitman: Agent 47

A mockumentary about four vampire flatmates in New Zealand.

Bad. This is supposed to be comedy. I’m not laughing. From what little I saw, I doubt it will get any better.

Some people with accents drive a carriage through the snow and talk a lot.

Oh god, this was supposed to be good? If it can’t get interesting in the first half an hour then why in the fuck should I continue watching?

In a barely-colonial North America, a semi-savage man survives some harsh shit in search for a dude that did some stuff that he doesn’t like.

Slow and pretty. I’m certain this would appeal to some people, just not to me. It’s cinematic, outdoorsy, survivalistic, travelling, manly and all that. But it’s slow and nerve-wracking as fuck.

A crew on route to a space station learns that it’s crippled by a meteor storm.

It’s 1990s quality. Seeing as it’s a TV movie, that’s not surprising. Overall it’s fair, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

  • aka Black Horizon
  • There is the occasional unsubtitled Russian language bit, but they are meant to be unobtrusive.

When attacked, an idiot stoner learns he has training he never knew he had.

An unintellectual fluffy bubblegum action movie. Easy on the brain and good for the common man. Not a spy movie as such. Recommended for beers and popcorn with friends. Still worth a watch for others who can just barely tolerate such brain-candy.

A man stares into the sun as a child, and develops superhuman powers of math, pattern recognition with a side order of paranoia etc.

I don’t think this will appeal to most people, since it deal with topics only the fringe of humanity have any comprehension of. I happen to like it quite a bit, for reasons I certainly never hinted at in the previous sentence.
