Wow, what a great game.
Blocky graphics though. I don’t remember things being that ugly on the PC.

(on Wikipedia) Really awesome intro and real-life movies. Really horrible interface. Entertainment > Games (PlayStation 1) > The graphics are pretty awful and the gameplay is absolutely impossible. I’ll add notes when I re-watch this series.
(on Wikipedia) A vampire, cursed with a soul to be immortally haunted by his past, hopes for absolution by fighting the damned. An astonishing series. The characters and story are outstanding. While built upon/within the Buffy the Vampire Slayer universe, it has a different and significantly more adult story line. I would say that this series is better than its parent, but Buffy is mandatory and still enjoyable viewing to get to this one. Mandatory viewing.
(on Wikipedia) An email client. POP3, APOP, IMAP4rev1, mh, SMTP, SMTP AUTH, NNTP, SSL/TLS, OpenPGP, external editors, filtering, muliple identities. Good multilanguage and character set support. Sylpheed is bafflingly bad in places, and Claws Mail was a welcome improvement. This relationship reminds me a lot of PCManFM versus PCManFM-mod (which later became SpaceFM). I’ll add notes when I re-watch this
Entertainment > Movies > (on Wikipedia) In a world where genetics predetermines health, a man with congenital defects pursues his dream of becoming an astronaut. This is, for me, an intensely nerve-wracking movie. I will definitely keep it in my collection, but I find re-watching difficult. I’d need to re-watch this to add proper notes.
(on Wikipedia) A highschool cheerleader, learning she is imbued with the spirit of the Vampire Slayer and her school was built on a Hellmouth, is trained by an ancient order of Watchers to fight vampires and other monsters from ending the world. An astonishing series, and I don’t say that lightly. The characters and story are outstanding. While this is a fast-and-loose show, it matures. It spinoff/partner series, Angel – (1999 show) is even more adult. This show is well worth the time, even if its initial episodes put the viewer off with its childishness. It’s not a series that “grows on you”, it really does get better and better, building upon and maturing out of its initial impressions. Mandatory viewing.
Software > (on Wikipedia) Smalltalk leads to Squeak, the open source implementation, and through one if its main contributors (Alan Kay) leads to the Croquet Project. I don’t even know where to begin to describe this project. It’s an open and programmable 3D environment designed for communication and collaboration. Or something. You have to see it to believe it. And maybe not even then. See also:

https://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=MoviX multimedia-biased I don’t know when I tried this, but I’ll guess around the 2006 range. It was archived in my long, long list of distributions I tried. Sad sad installer. Really tries very impressively hard. Really fails impressively badly. Would be awesome if it got into the “actually works” software category. |
