Event 16 (2006) poster

Some sort of time machine thing is discovered by an idiot and time machiney things happen because of paradoxes and a murder spree of intrigues and stuff.

I don’t think I paid close enough attention to understand what the fuck was going on. It wasn’t bad as such, but it was distractingly-overdubbed Kiwi-ese. Everything about it was fair, except for bits of the plot not grabbing me, and the speaking. The speaking thing is kind of important for me.

Assassin's Creed - Lineage (2009) poster

An assassin, that everyone knows, does some assassiny things but everyone knows him.

This is basically a long intro to a video game. While not bad, it’s not good. It is rife with over-acting and it felt confused to me. I didn’t stay interested.

I see there are other shorts, but I’m not going to watch them.

Two agents become an unlikely pair to thwart the creation and deployment of a nuclear warhead.

I overall liked this. It has a classy feel something like the old James Bond films but with its own flavour. Younger fans of that genre will likely also like this movie.

Some people with accents drive a carriage through the snow and talk a lot.

Oh god, this was supposed to be good? If it can’t get interesting in the first half an hour then why in the fuck should I continue watching?

In a barely-colonial North America, a semi-savage man survives some harsh shit in search for a dude that did some stuff that he doesn’t like.

Slow and pretty. I’m certain this would appeal to some people, just not to me. It’s cinematic, outdoorsy, survivalistic, travelling, manly and all that. But it’s slow and nerve-wracking as fuck.

Monkey King - Hero Is Back (2015) poster 12

Something about trolls and such, and a little boy who probably becomes a hero.

I didn’t get very far into this. It’s way too over-the-top childish for my tastes. I would recommend this be watched by a parent with their kid. It seems action-packed yet “safe”. Nobody dies, even through major fight scenes.

  • Properly titled Monkey King: Hero Is Back (2015)
  • 西游记之大圣归来 or Xi you ji zhi da sheng gui lai in Chinese
  • You may think that “is back” would mean this is a sequel. It is not.

In the past, a dude retells the story of some stuff that happened on some island way over there. Also there are accents and titties.

Maybe I’m not in the mood or my tastes have changed. I thought I’d like this, but I got bored.

A lawyer becomes entangled in intelligence when he accepts a defense case for a Soviet spy.

I’m not sure what to say about this movie. It’s quite good. I like historical intelligence movies.

The last of a powerful race tours time and space, regularly ending up in trouble.

Playful fun. Occasionally attempts to glide past some significant issues with time travel but is generally bubblegum. Doesn’t take itself too seriously. Recommended until it goes woke.
