A P2P daemon, which requires a network protocol such as openFT or gnutella. Any number of frontends are also recommended.

So far, giFT has proved to do what it is made for. Most problems will appear to me to be the fault of the frontend, but there may well need to be certain features inserted into either the openFT protocol, the giFT daemon or the frontend.. it’s difficult to say.

  • The software hasn’t had an update since 07 May 2005!

2016-12-25 – Blizzard still hasn’t abandoned it yet.

It’s ugly to an extreme, and offensive to my eyes to even look at it. The controls are awkward and hard on my mouse hand.

I liked it, but it hated me and had horrible bugs.

I tried Instiki because I wanted to learn to program in Ruby and so I thought I could contribute. However, my creativity was badly maimed by the beta-ness of the project as well as a horrific “rollback” data loss issue. These were issues so horrific that the project should have been halted. Sure, the developer had things to do, but in my mind there was no excuse. I was frustrated enough to delete my entire installation, including some of my original work. Among the things deleted was an article I wrote with a simple resolution to the “Slashdot effect“. Sigh.

I really thought Guild Wars had it all when I learned of it. I went out and found all of the resources i could, and noted all the specs and rumours and whatnot. I ended up becoming a beta tester for it and everything.

Sadly, during gameplay I was very severely disappointed and walked away. I went back to try it a second time and what I considered to be very serious and obvious issues were not and apparently would not be addressed. This topic only remains for amusement’s sake, as a testament to my ability to waste huge amounts of time for nothing.

  • Note that I am bound by a beta tester’s NDA, so I cannot discuss the various things which went on during my time as a tester.
  • Followed by Guild Wars 2 – (2012 game)

An audio player.

A really fucking inexcusably-ugly audio player. Thankfully abandoned.
