A free-to-play 2.5D action semi-rpg game. Get gear, assign your abilities, explore and kill. Procedurally-generated areas and special “maps” give end-game replayability.
While straightforward to get into, it becomes atonishingly complex and unashamedly hard. They are also committed to keeping the game “hardcore” and not stooping to the level of appeasing the filthy casuals who ruin other games. This includes not avoiding pay to win.
Its developers care about their game more than any other developer for any other game I’ve played or have even heard of. Other than the little things, the game gets major updates every three months. Major as in expansion-quality new stuff.
Their community participation is strong.

This is an aborted article, here to house some pictures I have. I misplaced the notes though. =/
I’ll find them eventually, but here are some screenshots in the meanwhile.

Well this was an amusing thread to read through. I ended up changing from reading to skimming because it just got to ridiculous. There are so many trolls and ignorant derps sprouting crap.

These are notes for the game. I attempted to play it during beta, but I was unable.

A superhero game.
It wasn’t very original and had awkward controls.

I was hoping that Ryzom would be good. They open sourced the client and they appreciate Linux. The game just doesn’t seem so hot.

Yet another MMO, but this one is set in the Star Wars universe. Because light sabres, yo.
Conclusion: Amateur night.
This would have been great in the late nineties. Right now, the voiceovers are fantastic but the quest interactive cutscenes are ugly. The choices are sometimes vague and unforgiving. There is spectacular effort with all the rendered videos, but that just took away from resources for the game itself.
For a while now, I’ve been playing the online game World of Warcraft (“WoW”). Come to think of it, I’ve been extremely unproductive in anything that’s important to me in life because of this game. Hmm.
But my habit of searching and reviewing has stayed with me. One of the things which attracted me to this game in the first place is the possibility to customize the game client (Forum: UI and Macros). Since it is impossible to create one interface which is universally acceptable, it is extremely good to allow developer customization.
