The Matrix Revolutions - (2003 movie) poster

With killer-machines digging down to bypass the defences of the last refuge of mankind, a man with sudden magic powers magics with his powers.

Oh god, make it end. The writing is so fucking sloppy that the second movie and this third movie should not be watched by anyone, most especially fans of the first movie.

The war against The Machines escalates, and it’s a race between them digging down to Zion and The One pushing his way into the core of The Matrix for reason that wasn’t explained very well.

If there are people out there who saw the first one and somehow get to this post before seeing this movie, please avoid this. Yes it’s more of the same and it’s “good”, but this is a shit story that should be skipped.

This movie does not have an ending. It is part one of a mandatory two-movie binge.

A hitman is witnessed just after a job, and becoming a suspect pushes his employers put a hit out on him.

While I can imagine this being really cool at the time, it certainly isn’t any more. It has a slow moody atmosphere with a main character stiff enough to be a walking corpse. It’s also just shy of being a silent film.

I only finished watching it because of the similarity Ghost Dog – (1999 movie) has with it, because I like that movie.

Artificial intelligence is created but is somehow only used as a personal assistant.

Awkward and slow, and so lacking in intellectual merit as to make it far too weak a story. Science fiction chick flicks are fucking weak.

On the way to moving to a new town, a girl stumbles upon and is trapped in a pocket dimension with an old Japanese bath house run by spirits and non-humans.

SHE SHOUTS A LOT

A spectacular movie. Youthful but with a balance of fantasy spectacle and horror.

An American captain, suffering from PTSD-induced nightmares so bad he became alcoholic, is brought back into the trade as a consultant and trainer to suppress the civil war in Japan and fight against its old warrior class, the samurai.

Dare I say this is one of the greats. It has various classic elements without being tiring and obvious, and maintains a great pace and tone.

A recently-ex-con world-renown hacker is swept into the well-planned efforts to fund long-term anti-terrorist terrorism.

I-like-hyphens.

Ignoring the Hollywood-hacker bullshit, it’s a good movie, particularly because so few, at least at its release, would be so A-class and yet have this particular topic. It helps shape the understanding of the passion behind Lawful Evil.
