Music >

Research on music licensing, with a focus on legally streaming copyrighted music.

This is not about the equipment, the act of bring a DJ or any other practical thing. This is about the law, and particularly for someone in Canada.

I had tinkered with this as a project some time ago, but I misplaced those bookmarks before thinking to post them up here. I’m not presently that interested, but I will be if I pursue related endeavours in the future.

Projects > Time management >

You are chained to things that make you unproductive. Unproductive not only in terms of your responsibilities but also your desires. They are a strain not only on your time but also on your peace of mind.

Unplugging targets a wide number of associated things, freeing up time and considerations to be put toward things which are specifically-desired. Instead of effort being put toward problems, passion is put toward desires.

This action is meant to take the whole day, and be regularly repeated. It is meant to be a defined branch of time management and a fundamental philosophy.

The right way to go about all of this would be to print this off. Better yet, write it all out by hand; make it yours.

This original concept was written quite differently: Unplugging–2007-05-27

Outside, in moderate light
Outside, in moderate light

Plants >

(on Wikipedia)

An incredibly resilient fast-growing indoor/outdoor plant (vine).

I’ve seen this, or some version of this, growing perennially outside in an area with normal seasons and in moderate shade. It really covered the area nicely, and nothing else was growing there. I don’t think it was tended to at all, so it may also crowd out weeds or perhaps the area was being sprayed or weeded and I never saw it.

I’ve kept it in a basement with no real natural light around. It went dark and still thrived. It started growing itself into the wall, through paint.

  1. A conscious act of will.

    • An inward version is to pursue awareness, mindfulness or the like.
    • An outward / practical version is to focus one’s thoughts on something — to reflect on or ponder over. This is the receiving end of point 3, below.
  2. Clearing one’s thoughts.

  3. “A Meditation” is a discourse intended to express its author’s reflections or to guide others in contemplation.

    • This is the “sending” end of point 1b.
      — Variously described: “Consider this deeply”, “Selah“, etc.

The first two are components of Enlightenment and often lead to the experience of an Epiphany. Some version is an instinctive aspect of genius, often seen in sharpening the saw.

PlayStation 2, USB >

Where:

  • You own a PlayStation 2
  • You own official PlayStation 2 discs

    • PlayStation 1 discs will also be researched.

The use cases are much the same as with DVD ripping:

  • Back discs up before disc rot sets in.
  • Rip discs and keep them safe

    • e.g. parents with little kids who damage discs.
  • Playing on a PlayStation 2 which has a broken DVD drive.

I never really got around to pursuing this as a proper project.

An operating system most notably on mobile phones, but also found on media boxes.

Fundamentally flawed – It is tethered to Google in as many ways as they’ve made possible. From a time server, to internet traffic compression. From google play requiring an account requiring your verified phone number. From hoops to download and install software from their store. It’s fucking awful.
